PANAMA CITY - This event hosted by ProColombia will take place on March 13th and 14th at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Panama City. It will be the ideal space to carry out business meetings and get to know the leading Colombian companies related to the hospital supply chain.
More than 20 Central American and Caribbean companies will participate in this matchmaking forum, including private clinics, hospitals, and specialized hospital supply chain distributors from countries such as the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Aruba, Curacao, and Trinidad and Tobago, among others. Health Room Colombia will include a trade show with more than 40 Colombian export companies such as Mubi, Quirúrgicos Alfa, Rymco Medical, and Tecnoquímicas.
In this first edition, the Colombian delegation of exporters will offer a wide range of hospital furniture, pharmaceutical products, medical devices, uniforms, and specialized software for the health sector—a combined trade show and matchmaking forum in a space that simulates a hospital environment.
"Colombia has advanced in both the production of hospital furniture, equipment, and supplies and in its marketing system, presenting a wide range of quality and variety, with companies who have flexibility in terms of orders as well as the ability to offer various products in the hospital supplies sector," said Flavia Santoro, President of ProColombia.
"Colombia’s geographic location and degree of specialization in the hospital supplies sector support business development in a strategic region such as the Central American and Caribbean markets," added the president of ProColombia. In this regard, Colombia is located less than 5 days in maritime transits and less than three hours by plane from each of the 10 markets that will be participating in this event.
In Health Room Colombia, Caribbean buyers will be able to find innovative Colombian products designed for the international market that are competitive in both price and quality.
In 2018, Colombian exports in the hospital supplies sector (medical devices, instruments, appliances and prosthetics, and hospital furniture) reached US $71.5 million, an increase of 7.1% compared to the year 2017, according to DANE (Department of Statistics) figures.
When assessing the countries that will attend Health Room, purchases from the Dominican Republic (US $2.7 million) and Panama (US $1.8 million) were the most significant last year, increasing 44.7% and 1.9% respectively.
Globally, there are several opportunities in this sector. Business Monitor ensures that the growing elderly population will increase the use of medical devices. By 2021, 19% of the population will be over 65 years old. In addition, according to figures from TradeMap, hospital supplies imports show an increase of 2.3% worldwide in the last 5 years (2013-2017), surpassing US $230,000 million.
