China condemns U.S. involvement in Venezuela, calls it “external interference”

BEIJING, CARACAS - The Chinese government sharply criticized the United States on Wednesday for what it described as interference in the internal affairs of Venezuela, denouncing Washington’s actions as “external meddling.”

Mao Ning, spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reaffirmed Beijing’s strong support for the 2014 CELAC declaration, which designates Latin America and the Caribbean as a “zone of peace.”

China rejects violations of sovereignty

Mao emphasized that China is firmly opposed to any actions that violate the principles of the United Nations Charter, including infringement on the sovereignty and security of other nations.

“China resolutely opposes any conduct that breaches the UN Charter and undermines the sovereignty of states,” Mao said.

Call for U.S. to follow legal frameworks

The spokesperson urged the United States to operate strictly within bilateral and multilateral legal frameworks, particularly regarding judicial and law enforcement cooperation in the region.

China’s strong condemnation comes amid escalating tensions between Washington and Caracas, as U.S. military activity in the Caribbean and off the coast of Venezuela continues to draw international scrutiny.
