WILLEMSTAD – Youth unemployment in Curaçao showed only a slight improvement in 2025, with the unemployment rate among people aged 15 to 24 decreasing from 16.3 percent in 2024 to 16.0 percent, according to the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS).
The figures were published as part of the Labour Force Survey results included in the Social Survey 2025.
CBS reported that the number of unemployed young people declined by 618 between 2024 and 2025. However, youth unemployment remains significantly higher than the overall unemployment rate of 5.1 percent.
The survey also found that many young people who are classified as unemployed are still engaged in education or training. According to CBS, 41.7 percent of unemployed young people are following an education programme or course while also indicating that they are actively searching for work.
This group may be looking for part-time employment opportunities alongside their studies.
The CBS considers labour market information important for understanding the challenges facing different groups within society and for developing policies related to employment, education and economic participation.
The Social Survey 2025 was carried out between September and November 2025 and includes detailed information about the supply side of Curaçao’s labour market.
