WILLEMSTAD – The 16th edition of the youth festival Bos di Kunuku will take place this Saturday in Ser’i Dòmi, offering young performers a platform to showcase traditional cultural music.
The event, organized by Fundashon JAG, was founded by Shurendy Pieternella with the aim of promoting youth development and preserving Curaçao’s cultural heritage, including traditions such as Kantadó Mayó.
This year’s edition will feature eight participants, supported by three cultural groups. Over the years, several contestants have gone on to participate in other major events, including the youth Tumba Festival.
The festival is dedicated this year to Hermanito Narvaez, in recognition of his contributions.
Organizers emphasize that the event is an important investment in both young talent and the future of Curaçao’s cultural identity. “With this event, we aim to continue nurturing talent and safeguarding our traditions,” Fundashon JAG stated.
The festival will begin at 4:00 p.m. at Kunuku di Shon Mi, located on Kaya Tula. Tickets will be available at the entrance for 25 guilders.
