Yellow Alert Issued for Rough Seas Along Curaçao’s North and East Coasts

Local, | By Correspondent August 14, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – A Code Yellow warning for rough seas is in effect along Curaçao’s north and east coasts until 7:00 a.m. Saturday, with high breaking waves expected due to strong winds and ocean swells.

The rough conditions could pose risks along exposed sections of the coastline. High surf may cause damage to small vessels as well as facilities located along beaches and coastal areas.

Owners and operators of beach facilities are advised to secure equipment and other property that could be affected by the waves.

People heading out to sea in small boats are urged to exercise additional caution because of the hazardous conditions. Swimmers should also remain alert and are strongly advised not to venture far from shore.

Conditions are expected to remain potentially hazardous through early Saturday morning, when the Code Yellow warning is scheduled to expire.
