WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Meteorological Service has issued a Yellow Alert for the island’s north and east coasts, warning residents and visitors of hazardous sea conditions expected to persist until 8:00 p.m. on Monday.
According to the weather service, forecasts indicate the development of rough seas along sections of the coastline. Strong waves and gusty winds are expected to create potentially dangerous conditions both in the water and along the shore.
Authorities are warning that the high surf could damage small boats positioned close to the waterline. There is also a risk of coastal flooding, which may affect beach facilities and other infrastructure located near the shore.
Owners of small vessels are being urged to exercise caution and carefully assess conditions before venturing onto the water. Operators of coastal businesses and beach facilities are advised to take preventive measures to protect equipment and property from possible wave action and flooding.
The Meteorological Service is also advising swimmers and beachgoers to remain vigilant and avoid venturing too far into the sea while the rough conditions persist.
A Yellow Alert indicates that potentially dangerous weather or sea conditions are expected and that the public should stay informed and take appropriate precautions.
The warning remains in effect until Monday evening, and residents are encouraged to monitor updates from the Meteorological Service for any changes in conditions.
