World Cup Bracelet Campaign Delivers New Sports Equipment to Otrobanda Youth

Local, | By Correspondent October 6, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – Children and young people at the Otrobanda community center have received new sports equipment purchased with proceeds from bracelets sold during the FIFA World Cup.

The fundraising initiative was launched by a group of Curaçao entrepreneurs and carried out by Lionfish Caribbean and Magali Gorré. The campaign gained additional visibility when players from Curaçao’s national football team wore the bracelets during the tournament.

Gorré, the wife of Curaçao assistant coach Dean Gorré and mother of national team player Kenji Gorré, helped connect the national team’s historic appearance on the world stage with young people in Curaçao’s neighborhoods. She arranged for the bracelets to reach the players and worked together with Charlotte, who initiated the campaign on behalf of Lionfish Caribbean.

Money raised through the sale of the bracelets was subsequently used to purchase sports equipment for the children and teenagers at the Otrobanda community center.

The initiative is not over. Organizers said sufficient funds remain to provide sports equipment to another community center in Curaçao.

Lionfish Caribbean is therefore inviting other community centers interested in receiving the remaining support to contact the organization at curacao@lionfishcaribbean.com or +5999 673 06 09.
