WILLEMSTAD – The Wintertuin Curaçao Kids Festival scheduled for Saturday, September 12, is completely sold out, with organizers announcing that no tickets will be available at the entrance.
The eighth edition of the children's festival will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and, for the first time, will be held on the grounds of the Curaçao scouting organization on Beatrixlaan in Emmastad.
This year's theme is “Moveshon,” the Papiamentu word for movement. The program combines art and storytelling with sports, games, Curaçaoan culture and healthy food.
A total of 16 workshops will be offered throughout the afternoon. Children will be able to write film scripts, make jewelry, participate in laughter yoga, play dodgeball and take part in a nature scavenger hunt searching for Emmastad's deer.
Other activities include an obstacle course, giant soap bubbles and improvisational theater.
Young participants will also have an opportunity to perform themselves on the Talent Stage. The program further includes a kids dance club and a mobile music caravan.
Traditional Curaçaoan culture will also be featured. Rudsel “Ruchi” Isidora will lead a workshop introducing children to traditional musical instruments.
Performances on the main stage will include youth band Rais Rítmiko, storyteller Guinete de Palm, Elise Academy and acrobat Josanne.
Healthy food and beverages will be available at the festival grounds as part of the event's broader focus on movement and healthy lifestyles.
The festival will conclude at 8:00 p.m. with a joint parade involving participants and visitors.
Organizers are asking everyone who already has an admission ticket to arrive on time. With all available tickets distributed, no additional visitors will be admitted through door sales on Saturday.
