WILLEMSTAD – Social media has become an integral part of daily life in Curaçao, with more than three-quarters of the population actively using online platforms, according to the CBS Social Survey 2025.
The survey found that 77.4% of respondents use social media, while 22.6% reported not using any social media platforms.
Among social media users, WhatsApp remains by far the most popular platform.
More than 90% of users reported using WhatsApp, making it the dominant communication platform on the island. Facebook ranked second with 78.1%, followed by YouTube at 57.5%.
Instagram was used by 38.5% of respondents, while TikTok reached 33.1% of social media users.
Professional and messaging platforms such as LinkedIn (5.7%), X, formerly Twitter (4.4%), and Telegram (3.1%) were used by considerably smaller portions of the population.
The survey also highlights the island's broader digital transformation.
Previous sections of the report found that more than 83% of households now have internet access at home, demonstrating the increasing importance of digital connectivity for communication, education, employment and entertainment.
The findings indicate that Curaçao continues to experience strong digital adoption, with mobile messaging and social media now playing a central role in everyday communication.
