WILLEMSTAD – A lack of feedback following integrity reports has been identified as one of the government's most significant integrity weaknesses.
Across several ministries, large numbers of employees indicated that concerns raised through reporting mechanisms are rarely followed by visible action or feedback. At the Ministry of Economic Development, 45 percent of respondents said feedback is rarely or never provided. At SOAW, the figure reached 43 percent.
Researchers warn that this can create a damaging cycle. Employees who never receive feedback may lose confidence in the reporting process and become reluctant to raise future concerns.
The report stresses that effective reporting systems depend not only on the ability to file complaints but also on transparency regarding how those complaints are handled.
Improving communication after reports could therefore become one of the fastest ways for government to strengthen trust in its integrity framework.
