WILLEMSTAD – A vacant wooden house near Palu Blanku was completely destroyed by fire last night during the Carnival farewell parade. No injuries were reported.
The building caught fire while the traditional closing parade of Carnival was in full swing. Because the blaze broke out close to the parade route, many carnival-goers witnessed the fire as it spread through the structure.
The wooden house had been unoccupied for some time. Despite a rapid response by the fire brigade, firefighters were unable to prevent the building from being completely engulfed and destroyed by the flames.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
