U.S. Senator Rick Scott Warns Against Interference With Rescue Operations in Venezuela

Venezuela, United States, | By Correspondent June 29, 2026

WASHINGTON, CARACAS – U.S. Senator Rick Scott has warned that American and international search-and-rescue teams operating in earthquake-stricken Venezuela must be allowed to carry out their humanitarian mission without interference.

In a statement, Scott said the rescue teams are in Venezuela for one purpose: to save lives. He stressed that any individual who obstructs their work should be held accountable.

The Florida senator specifically mentioned Diosdado Cabello, warning that anyone—including the senior Venezuelan government official—who interferes with rescue operations "will be held accountable and face consequences."

Scott's remarks come amid growing tensions surrounding humanitarian relief efforts following the powerful earthquakes that have devastated parts of Venezuela. International rescue teams and aid organizations have been deployed to assist local authorities in searching for survivors, delivering emergency supplies and supporting affected communities.

The senator's statement follows similar criticism from other U.S. lawmakers, including Congressman Carlos A. Giménez, who has also accused Cabello of hindering the delivery of humanitarian assistance and called for international aid to be delivered directly to the Venezuelan people.

As of publication, the Venezuelan government and Diosdado Cabello have not publicly responded to Scott's comments.

The allegations have not been independently verified by Curaçao Chronicle. Rescue and humanitarian operations continue across several affected regions as international teams work alongside Venezuelan emergency services to assist victims of the disaster.
