WILLEMSTAD – The U.S. Consulate General has reaffirmed its commitment to regional security cooperation following a meeting with senior representatives of U.S. federal law enforcement agencies and police leaders from Curaçao and the Caribbean Netherlands.

The meeting brought together officials from the U.S. Consulate General, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Diplomatic Security Service (DSS), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Curaçao Police Force (KPC) and the Caribbean Netherlands Police Force (KPCN).

According to the U.S. Consulate General, the discussions focused on reinforcing the longstanding partnership between the United States and law enforcement agencies throughout the Dutch Caribbean, with an emphasis on continued cooperation in regional security matters.

Among those attending were DSS Special Agent Christine Skelonc, FBI representative Stephen Mason, Curaçao Police Chief Raymond Ellis, Caribbean Netherlands Police Chief Alwyn Braaf, adviser Simone van der Zee, DEA representative Lauren Carney and U.S. Consul General Ramón A. 'Chico' Negrón.

The meeting underscores the close collaboration between U.S. agencies and Dutch Caribbean law enforcement in addressing transnational crime, including drug trafficking, organized crime, human trafficking, cybercrime and other security challenges affecting the region.

The Dutch Caribbean occupies a strategic location in the southern Caribbean, making cooperation among local and international law enforcement agencies an important element in efforts to combat cross-border criminal activity and strengthen public safety.

While no specific operations or new initiatives were announced, the gathering highlighted the ongoing exchange of expertise, intelligence and operational coordination between the United States and its law enforcement partners in Curaçao and the Caribbean Netherlands.
