WASHINGTON – The United States Department of State has expressed support for initiatives announced by Venezuela's 2015 National Assembly, led by Dinorah Figuera, and the country's interim government to address the aftermath of recent earthquakes, strengthen democratic institutions and advance the country toward free elections.
According to the statement, Washington views these efforts as part of a broader three-phase strategy focused on stabilization, economic recovery, political reconciliation and a democratic transition.
