WILLEMSTAD – Representatives of the United Nations have informed Governor Mauritsz de Kort about ongoing developments related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Curaçao during an official visit held on March 31, 2026.
The meeting took place as part of a courtesy visit by Joanna Kazana-Wisniowiecki, Resident Coordinator of the United Nations for the region covering Trinidad & Tobago, Aruba, Curaçao, and Sint Maarten. She was accompanied by a delegation including Christelle Parris-McKay, Data Management Officer, Tracey Hutchinson, Head of the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office (UNRCO), Mark Thomas of the Partnerships and Development Finance Office, Karen Wouters of the International Organization for Migration, and Vanessa van Dijseldonk, advisor to the Prime Minister of Curaçao.

During the meeting, the Governor was briefed on the work of the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office and the progress of implementing the SDGs in Curaçao. Discussions also focused on the island’s current position and developments within the broader international framework of sustainable development.
The visit forms part of ongoing efforts by the United Nations to strengthen cooperation with Caribbean partners and to support the advancement of sustainable development priorities across the region.
The Sustainable Development Goals, adopted by all United Nations member states, aim to address global challenges such as poverty, inequality, climate change, and sustainable economic growth.
The meeting underscores Curaçao’s continued engagement with international partners in aligning local policies with global development objectives.
