Two CURMIL officers promoted to First Lieutenant

WILLEMSTAD – Two officers of the Curaçaose Militie (CURMIL) have officially been promoted to the rank of First Lieutenant in recognition of their service, professionalism and dedication to Curaçao’s military force.

Second Lieutenant Carmelia and Second Lieutenant Koster were formally promoted during a ceremony held on April 7, where the Royal Decrees confirming their promotions were read aloud by Commander Walter Hansen.

The Governor of Curaçao, Mauritsz de Kort, personally presented the Royal Decrees to both officers and oversaw the official placement of the First Lieutenant insignia on their shoulders.

The promotion marks an important milestone in the military careers of both officers and reflects their contribution to the operational readiness and development of CURMIL.

In a statement, the Governor congratulated First Lieutenant Carmelia and First Lieutenant Koster on their advancement and wished them success in carrying out their duties in service to Curaçao.

CURMIL plays an important role in supporting national defense and security operations on the island, working alongside Dutch military and regional security partners in the Caribbean.

The ceremony was attended by military leadership and government representatives, underscoring the significance of the promotion within Curaçao’s defense structure.
