WILLEMSTAD – Police have arrested two minors in connection with the theft of two scooters, according to a statement released Tuesday evening by the Curaçao Police Force.

In both cases, 15-year-old boys were taken into custody.

The first scooter, an AKT brand, was reported stolen last Thursday in the Punda district. During the investigation, police received information that the stolen vehicle had been located via GPS in the area of Granbeeuwweg.

Officers responding to the scene found a 15-year-old suspect riding the scooter. The teenager was arrested and the scooter was confiscated for further investigation. Police have not ruled out the possibility of additional arrests in connection with the case.

The second scooter, also an AKT model, was stolen on Friday in the De Savaan neighborhood. Once again, police were able to track the vehicle through its GPS system. The scooter was located on Kaya Kokoloshi.

When officers arrived at the location, they found another 15-year-old suspect in possession of the scooter. He was also arrested.

Both suspects were presented to an assistant public prosecutor and remain in pre-trial detention pending further investigation.
