WILLEMSTAD – Twelve students have officially graduated from the Special Police Officer (BAVPOL) program at the Law Enforcement and Security Training Institute (ORV), strengthening the island’s law enforcement and public safety sector.
The BAVPOL Gemengd-2025-II training program began in June last year and included participants from multiple government and semi-public services, including the police force, inspection services, and utility companies.

During the program, students received both theoretical and practical training focused on supervision, investigation, enforcement, and the professional execution of legal duties.
The graduation ceremony was attended by Roderick Middelhof, ORV director Alpha Falbru, representatives of the Ministry of Justice, and supervisors from the participating organizations.
Several speakers praised the dedication and perseverance of the graduates throughout the intensive training process.
Middelhof emphasized the importance of discipline, professionalism, and persistence within the law enforcement field, especially at a time when Curaçao continues facing growing challenges related to public order and safety.
Special recognition was awarded to Dionne Anches and Michelle Maduro for their strong performances during the training program.
According to ORV, the new graduates are expected to contribute to strengthening law enforcement capacity and improving safety within Curaçao’s society.
The BAVPOL program plays an increasingly important role within Curaçao’s broader enforcement structure. Graduates receive limited police powers within their designated work areas and may assist with supervision, issuing fines, enforcement of local regulations, and other public order tasks under the supervision of police and judicial authorities.
ORV has expanded several specialized law enforcement and security training programs in recent years as authorities seek to strengthen institutional capacity across different sectors of government and public services.
