WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao can expect unsettled weather this weekend as an active tropical wave passes north of the island, increasing the chance of localized showers from Friday, August 14 through Sunday, August 16.
The tropical wave will create more favorable conditions for showers to develop over Curaçao. At times, several showers may occur across different parts of the island, although dry conditions are still expected to dominate for much of the day.
Aruba and Bonaire may also experience periods of unsettled weather as the system moves through the region.
In addition to the tropical wave, Saharan dust will remain present over Curaçao throughout the weekend. This could produce hazy conditions and reduce visibility over longer distances.
Winds will generally come from the east and are expected to be moderate to strong on Friday. Wind speeds should temporarily decrease during Saturday and early Sunday, when mostly moderate easterly winds are forecast.
Marine conditions will also become somewhat rougher. Waves around Curaçao are expected to reach approximately 1.7 to 2.3 meters, particularly affecting exposed coastal waters.
Temperatures will remain relatively unchanged despite the increase in cloudiness and showers. Daytime temperatures are expected to reach around 33 degrees Celsius, while nighttime and early-morning temperatures will fall to approximately 27 degrees.
The influence of the tropical wave is expected to gradually diminish later Sunday as the system moves farther away from the ABC islands. More stable weather conditions should then return to Curaçao.
