WILLEMSTAD – Foundation Tri-Curaçao (TriCur) officially launched the new youth and multisport season last weekend with the Back to School Aquathlon at Kokomo Beach. The event brought together young athletes from 15 schools and 5 sports teams, marking an exceptionally strong turnout to kick off the new season.

Participants competed in a challenging combination of a 1-kilometer run, a 100-meter swim, and another 1-kilometer run. The race gave young athletes a chance to test their physical abilities, gain competitive experience, and get a taste of multisport versatility.

Investing in an Active and Healthy Youth
For TriCur, the Back to School Aquathlon is an important part of its broader mission to promote sport and a healthy, active lifestyle among young people in Curaçao.

Beyond developing athletic skills, TriCur focuses on creating an environment where young people can build confidence, discipline, perseverance, and team spirit. By making swimming, running, and other multisport activities accessible across different skill levels, the organization aims to contribute to a lasting sports culture on the island.
"The strong turnout for this first activity of the season is a clear sign of growing interest in youth and multisport in Curaçao," said Christian Curtin of Foundation Tri-Curaçao. "We're proud to offer a platform, together with schools, sports teams, partners, coaches, and families, where young people can grow both athletically and personally."

Strong Collaboration with Schools and Partners
The success of the Back to School Aquathlon is largely thanks to the collaboration between TriCur, participating schools, sports teams, partners, and volunteers. This shared effort is essential to organizing high-quality, accessible sports activities for youth.
TriCur extends its appreciation to Kokomo Beach, 2Bays Curaçao, Vrugdenhil, the participating schools, and athletics and sports teams for their support.
A special thanks also goes out to the TriCur Crew — coaches, volunteers, and families — who worked to give the young participants a safe, professional, and motivating sporting experience during the event.
Building Toward a Strong New Season
With the Back to School Aquathlon, TriCur has gotten the new season off to a strong start. According to the organization, the high turnout and enthusiasm of the young athletes confirm the need for structural sport and development opportunities for youth in Curaçao.
In the coming period, TriCur will continue to build a broad program of activities that bring together sport, health, personal development, and community-building.
