WILLEMSTAD – A three-year-old child was seriously injured on Wednesday after an accident inside a store in downtown Willemstad. The incident occurred at the Crocs store in Punda, where a door reportedly came loose and fell onto the child.
The impact caused the child to fall and hit their head on the floor. The victim was rushed to the Curaçao Medical Center for medical treatment. Authorities have not released information about the child’s current condition.
The child was visiting Curaçao as a tourist together with family members. Two cruise ships were docked in the port on Wednesday, but it is not known whether the family arrived on the island aboard one of the vessels.
Police temporarily closed off the street in front of the store while officers investigated the circumstances surrounding the accident.
The investigation into how the door became detached is ongoing. Further details will be released once more information becomes available.
