WILLEMSTAD – A police investigation into illegal firearm possession has resulted in a third arrest, according to the Curaçao Police Force.
Officers carried out an early morning raid on a home on Costa Ricaweg at around 5:00 a.m., where they discovered two firearms and a quantity of ammunition. Police reported that one of the weapons was legally registered, but the amount of ammunition exceeded what is permitted. The second firearm was found to be unlicensed.
A 44-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman were immediately arrested at the scene. All weapons and ammunition were confiscated.
Later the same day, a third suspect was taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation. The suspect, a 45-year-old man born in Curaçao, was arrested on orders of the Public Prosecution Service at a medical facility in Otrobanda.
All three suspects have been brought before an assistant public prosecutor, who ordered their continued detention pending further investigation.
Police emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing and have not ruled out additional arrests.
