Tax Authority Holds ANG 3 Million in Refunds Pending Bank Details from 2,500 Taxpayers

WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Tax Authority is unable to pay out more than ANG 3 million in tax refunds because the bank account information of over 2,500 taxpayers is missing from its system.

The refunds, related to income tax and social premiums, have already been processed and are ready for payment. However, the Tax Authority cannot transfer the funds until a valid bank account number has been registered for each taxpayer.

The affected taxpayers have been notified through their digital mailbox on the online tax filing portal. They received an email alerting them that a new message is available and that their banking information is incomplete.

The Tax Authority is urging these individuals to add their bank account number to their customer profile as soon as possible. Once the information has been updated and verified, the pending refund will be released.

On average, each affected taxpayer has approximately ANG 1,200 waiting for payment, although the exact amount varies depending on the individual tax situation.

The Tax Authority advises taxpayers who have not yet received their refund to check their digital mailbox and ensure that their personal and banking information is up to date.
