WILLEMSTAD – The Social Insurance Bank (SVB) ended 2025 with more than 46,000 registered employees and nearly 137,000 people covered under Curaçao's Basic Health Insurance (BVZ), according to its latest annual report.
By the end of December, SVB had registered 46,244 employees and 4,630 employers. The number of BVZ-insured individuals reached 136,801, representing a slight increase from the previous year.
The institution says registration services have become increasingly digital. Since May 2025, employers have been able to register employees through the newly introduced Employer Portal, eliminating much of the paperwork previously required.
SVB plans to complete the transition by the end of 2026, when all employers are expected to use the online portal for employee registrations.
Residents can also schedule appointments online to register as employers or obtain and renew their health insurance cards, significantly reducing waiting times.
According to the report, expanding digital services remains a priority as SVB seeks to improve customer service and streamline administrative procedures.
