ORANJESTAD - Eric van der Burg, State Secretary for Interior and Kingdom Relations, paid a working visit to the Savaneta Marine Barracks this afternoon, accompanied by Aruban Prime Minister Eman.
During this visit, they were briefed on the Aruban Military (ARUMIL) and spoke with young people participating in the Social Development Program (SVT Sociale Vormingstraject).
The Social Development Program (SVT) is a program for young people aged between 17 to 25 who are not attending school or have not yet found a clear direction in life.
The SVT was introduced in Aruba in 2010 in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence. The first phase of the program consists of training in military discipline. This takes place at the Savaneta Marine Barracks under the guidance of ARUMIL officers.
State Secretary Van der Burg’s visit to the Savaneta Marine Barracks is part of his working visit to the ABC Islands. In addition to Aruba, Van der Burg is also visiting Curaçao and Bonaire.
