WILLEMSTAD – Eric van der Burg has arrived in Curaçao as part of his introductory tour across the six Caribbean islands within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The visit is part of a broader trip that began on April 7 and runs through April 17, during which Van der Burg is visiting Sint Eustatius, Saba, Sint Maarten, Aruba, Curaçao, and Bonaire.

On Tuesday afternoon, the State Secretary visited the Marine Barracks Parera, where discussions focused on strengthening cooperation and security within the Kingdom. According to Defense Caribbean Region, the meeting highlighted the importance of close collaboration among the islands.
During his stay in Curaçao, Van der Burg is scheduled to meet with government officials, members of Curaçao Parliament, and representatives of civil society organizations. He is also expected to hold talks with the Slavery History Commemoration Committee.
Key themes during the visit include governance, security, economic resilience, cooperation, and food security.
On Wednesday, the State Secretary will engage with students at the University of Curaçao to discuss education. His visit will conclude on Thursday morning with a press conference at the Representation of the Netherlands in Curaçao.
