WILLEMSTAD – Starlink, the satellite internet service operated by Elon Musk's SpaceX, has officially begun offering its services in Curaçao, according to an announcement by Minister Charles Cooper on social media.
Cooper described the development as another historic day for Curaçao, saying he had just received confirmation that Starlink had officially started operations on the island.
“Today is another historic day for Curaçao,” the minister wrote, announcing that the satellite internet provider is now offering its services to local customers.
Starlink uses a network of satellites in low Earth orbit to provide high-speed internet access, offering an alternative to traditional fixed-line connections. The technology can be particularly useful in locations where conventional internet infrastructure is limited or unavailable.
The arrival of Starlink introduces another option for internet connectivity in Curaçao and could increase competition in the local telecommunications market.
Cooper did not provide additional details about subscription prices, equipment costs or the specific service packages available to Curaçao customers.
The announcement marks a new development in the island's telecommunications sector as satellite-based internet services become increasingly accessible throughout the Caribbean.
