WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Student Financing Foundation (SSC) will once again organize its Pre-Departure Program next month for students preparing to continue their studies in the Netherlands starting in September.
According to SSC, the initiative is designed to better prepare young people for the transition to Dutch higher education and improve their chances of academic success.
The program is being organized in cooperation with the Strategic Education Alliance (SEA), a partnership involving educational and government institutions within the Kingdom. On Curaçao, SSC is working together with the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.
SSC stated that research and student experiences continue to show that moving to the Netherlands remains a major transition for many young people.
Students often face challenges related to adapting to a new culture, different educational systems, and increased personal independence.
The Pre-Departure Program aims to help participants better manage that adjustment period.
During the program, students will participate in workshops and receive personal guidance focused on practical skills, academic preparation, and personal development.
Special attention will be given to what SSC describes as the “first 100 days” in the Netherlands, a period considered crucial for successful adaptation.
The program is open to all students leaving for the Netherlands in September, including both SSC-funded students and so-called “free movers” who are arranging their studies independently.
Parents will also be actively involved through a separate information session designed to help families understand how they can support their children from Curaçao during their studies abroad.
The Pre-Departure Program will take place during the week of June 1 through June 6 and consists of three sessions.
Participation is free of charge.
