WILLEMSTAD – The Ministry of Social Development, Labor and Welfare (SOAW) is encouraging residents to seek assistance as early as possible when facing social, financial or family-related challenges, emphasizing that timely intervention can prevent problems from becoming more serious.
According to the ministry, SOAW is available to support residents at every stage of life by providing guidance, evaluating individual situations and offering assistance where possible.
Officials explained that every request for support is assessed on a case-by-case basis to determine the most appropriate form of assistance under existing policies and procedures.
For residents receiving social assistance benefits, a case manager is assigned to serve as a primary point of contact. The case manager evaluates the individual's current needs and provides guidance on the different forms of support available through the ministry, including material and social assistance when applicable.
The ministry stressed that many families face challenges that extend beyond financial hardship. Problems involving employment, education, health, family relationships or child care often require a broader approach.
In those cases, SOAW's Family and Youth Department provides more intensive support. Counselors work directly with families to assess their circumstances and develop action plans aimed at addressing underlying issues while helping families achieve greater long-term stability and independence.
The ministry said its goal is not only to respond to immediate needs but also to create sustainable solutions that improve the well-being of families over time.
