SOAW Extends XCG 100 Cost-of-Living Support Through October

Local, | By Correspondent September 9, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao’s Ministry of Social Development, Labor and Welfare (SOAW) has extended its temporary financial support program for another three months, allowing eligible residents to continue receiving an additional XCG 100 for August, September and October.

The government introduced the temporary assistance to help vulnerable residents cope with increases in the cost of living resulting from international developments.

SOAW announced that AOV pensioners and recipients of widow, widower and orphan pensions with annual incomes below XCG 30,000 will receive the XCG 100 payment for August on Friday, September 11, 2026.

The ministry emphasized that the additional XCG 100 payment will not be deposited at the same time as the regular AOV or AWW pension. The support payment will follow separately.

Recipients of social assistance, known locally as onderstand, have already received their additional support for August. Their next XCG 100 payment, covering September, is scheduled for September 25.

With the three-month extension, eligible beneficiaries will receive the additional assistance for August, September and October.

The Support Program is intended as a temporary measure rather than a permanent increase in pensions or social benefits. According to SOAW, its purpose is to provide additional relief to citizens considered most vulnerable to higher living costs.

Residents seeking additional information can contact SOAW’s temporary Support Team at 724-5300 or by email at sosten@soaw.cw.
