WILLEMSTAD – An aircraft operated by the Slovak Government Flying Service (SSG) made an unscheduled stop in Curaçao following a medical diversion before continuing its journey to Venezuela.
The aircraft, an Airbus A319-115 Corporate Jet (registration OM-BYA), landed in Curaçao after the diversion and later resumed its flight to Venezuela. The circumstances surrounding the medical emergency have not been officially disclosed.
The OM-BYA is part of the fleet operated by the Slovak Government Flying Service, the official air transport unit of the Slovak government responsible for transporting senior government officials, state delegations and carrying out special government missions.
The stopover comes as Venezuela continues to receive international support following the devastating earthquakes that have struck the country. Over the past several days, Curaçao has served as an important regional hub for humanitarian and logistical operations, including relief flights, emergency supply shipments and the transit of international rescue teams heading to the disaster zone.
Authorities have not indicated whether the Slovak government aircraft was participating in humanitarian operations related to the earthquake response or whether its destination in Venezuela was connected to another official mission.
Curaçao International Airport has experienced increased international traffic in recent days as governments and humanitarian organizations continue to mobilize assistance for Venezuela in the aftermath of the disaster.
