WILLEMSTAD – A delegation from Sint Maarten’s Ministry of Public Health, Social Development and Labor (VSA) visited Curaçao during the week of March 23 as part of a working visit focused on knowledge exchange and institutional strengthening in the healthcare sector.
The delegation, consisting of Fenna Arnell, Nakita Nicholls and Tanisha Guy, traveled to Curaçao as part of a benchmarking study aimed at supporting reforms within Sint Maarten’s public health inspection system.

During the visit, the delegation was received by Secretary-General Sharlon Melfor of the Ministry of Health, Environment and Nature (GMN), along with Director of Policy Jeanine Constansia-Kook and policy staff members Julissa Ignacio-Cosster and Vanessa Puriel-Eliza.
A key part of the program included a meeting with Inspector General of Health Sirving Keli, where both sides exchanged experiences related to the organization and implementation of supervision within the public health sector.
Discussions covered a range of topics, including the structure and role of health inspections, oversight mechanisms within the healthcare system, the link between policy development and supervisory practices, and the verification and registration of healthcare professionals.
The visit was aimed at strengthening cooperation within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, with a focus on improving oversight and policy development in the health sector.
The Ministry of Health, Environment and Nature described the exchange as constructive and expressed its intention to continue expanding collaboration with Sint Maarten in the future.
