WILLEMSTAD – Selikor N.V. has announced temporary changes to its waste collection services in connection with Labor Day on Friday, May 1.
The island’s main waste management company says the regular garbage collection route scheduled for Friday will be moved to Saturday, May 2.
Residents are being urged to place their garbage containers outside on time, as collection trucks will begin their routes early in the morning starting at 6:00 a.m.
Selikor says the schedule adjustment is necessary due to the public holiday and is part of its annual holiday service planning.
In addition to the modified pickup schedule, the company has also announced adjusted opening hours for its waste processing facilities.
Landfill Malpais will remain open on Labor Day, operating from 7:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
However, the Overslagstation Koraal Specht transfer station will be closed throughout the day.
Selikor is advising residents and businesses to take the changes into account and plan their waste disposal accordingly to avoid inconvenience or unnecessary buildup of garbage.
Labor Day, observed annually on May 1, is a public holiday on Curaçao and across much of the world, honoring workers and labor movements. As a result, several public and private services often operate on modified schedules.
