| By Press release February 19, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – As preparations continue for the participation of the Curaçao national football team in the 2026 World Cup, work is underway on a shared calendar of activities aimed at creating a more vibrant and festive atmosphere in downtown Willemstad during the lead-up to, and throughout, the international sporting event. Businesses in the city center are invited to register their activities through a dedicated online registration form.

The participation of the Blue Wave in the 2026 World Cup is expected to attract thousands of visitors and sports fans to Curaçao. This presents a unique opportunity to position downtown Willemstad as the central hub for experiences, entertainment, culture, and hospitality. By bringing all activities together in a single, centralized calendar, organizers aim to increase visibility while ensuring a lively and attractive city center.

Businesses are encouraged to consider special promotions, live music, themed evenings, sports-related events, cultural performances, culinary specials, or other creative initiatives that align with the atmosphere surrounding the Blue Wave’s World Cup participation.

Activities registered through the special sign-up form will be included in the official downtown Willemstad calendar for the Blue Wave World Cup 2026 and will form part of a joint promotional campaign.

“This is the moment to showcase the collective strength of our city center. By bringing activities together and promoting them jointly, we strengthen one another and create an unforgettable experience for both visitors and residents,” said Hans van Aalst, Quartiermaker of downtown Willemstad.
