WILLEMSTAD – More than 1,500 job seekers attended the annual job fair organized by the Curaçao Hospitality and Tourism Association (CHATA) on Saturday, marking the highest turnout since the event was introduced.
The event, held at Sambil Shopping Center, brought together more than 30 companies from the hospitality and tourism industry, which collectively presented over 500 job opportunities. The available positions ranged from entry-level jobs and student opportunities to positions for experienced professionals.
Participating companies used personal conversations, demonstrations and interactive presentations to attract potential employees. According to CHATA, the strong presence of students and young professionals was particularly notable during this year’s edition.
The record attendance comes as Curaçao’s tourism industry continues to expand and faces increasing demand for qualified and well-trained employees. CHATA estimates that the sector directly and indirectly provides employment for more than 25,000 people and represents approximately half of Curaçao’s economy.
“Tourism continues to create opportunities, but the growth of the sector also requires investment in people,” the organization said. CHATA emphasized that attracting and retaining qualified workers remains one of the industry’s biggest priorities.
The association plans to continue focusing on education, professional development and research into salaries and working conditions within the sector. CHATA also wants to work with employers to create more attractive career paths in hospitality and tourism.
The job fair was held for the third consecutive year at Sambil. Following the record turnout, CHATA expects the event to continue expanding in the coming years as the tourism industry seeks new talent to support further growth.
