WILLEMSTAD – Fundashon E Hende is demanding an investigation into the restructuring of Fundashon Kas Popular (FKP), claiming that assets from the former housing foundation were transferred to a new legal entity without an independent audit, valuation or public explanation.
The foundation included the issue in a formal request submitted to the Curaçao Parliament, calling for a review of the legality of decisions surrounding the creation of the new FKP structure.
According to Fundashon E Hende, the creation of the new legal entity took place during the administration of former Minister of Traffic, Transport and Spatial Planning Zita Jesus-Leito.
The foundation claims that assets belonging to the former FKP were transferred to the new organization without several safeguards that should normally accompany such a major restructuring.
Among the missing steps, according to Fundashon E Hende, were an independent audit, an official valuation of assets, ministerial approval and a public explanation of the reasons behind the transfer.
The foundation also claims that the Ministry of Social Development, Labor and Welfare was not involved in the process, despite its responsibility for social housing policies and rental support.
Fundashon E Hende is asking Parliament to investigate whether there was administrative misconduct or an improper use of authority.
The organization is also requesting that all documents, decisions and agreements related to the creation of the new FKP and the transfer of assets be made publicly available.
The foundation argues that transparency is necessary because FKP manages public resources and plays a critical role in addressing Curaçao’s social housing shortage.
