Qredits Expands Financing Opportunities for Curaçao Entrepreneurs Through BMKB Guarantee

Local, Economy, | By Press release September 25, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – Entrepreneurs in Curaçao and elsewhere in the Caribbean part of the Kingdom now have greater access to business financing through Qredits' use of the Dutch SME Credit Guarantee Scheme, known as BMKB.

Since 2026, Qredits has been using the BMKB to support business financing in Curaçao, Aruba, Sint Maarten, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba. The scheme provides additional financing opportunities for entrepreneurs seeking to invest in or expand their businesses.

The BMKB is a program of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and is administered by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO).

In the Caribbean part of the Kingdom, Qredits can use the guarantee for financing needs exceeding XCG 99,000. Depending on the circumstances, the guarantee can form an additional component of the overall financing arrangement.

The program is particularly relevant for entrepreneurs who have a viable business plan but lack sufficient collateral to obtain the financing they need.

Under the BMKB, the Dutch government guarantees a substantial portion of the credit. This reduces part of the financing risk and allows Qredits to provide loans in situations where financing might otherwise be more difficult to obtain.

The funds can be used for investments such as business expansion, the purchase of equipment and other business assets, innovation and sustainability projects.

Qredits stressed that access to the guarantee does not mean financing is granted automatically. Each application is assessed individually, including the viability of the business, the financial feasibility of the proposed investment and the entrepreneur's ability to repay the loan.

Since Qredits began using the scheme, several entrepreneurs in Curaçao, Aruba, Sint Maarten and the BES islands have already received financing involving a BMKB guarantee.

“Within Qredits Curaçao, we believe in creating room and opportunities for entrepreneurs to grow,” Qredits Curaçao Branch Manager Raiska Herrera said.

“With the BMKB guarantee, we can expand the financing options available and help more entrepreneurs turn their business ambitions into reality,” Herrera added.

According to Herrera, the program also strengthens Qredits' ability to offer flexible financing solutions adapted to the different stages and needs of individual businesses.

While the BMKB has been used for many years in the European Netherlands, Qredits says the program remains relatively unknown among entrepreneurs in the Caribbean part of the Kingdom.

Qredits and RVO are therefore seeking to increase awareness of the guarantee and the opportunities it can provide to businesses with investment and growth plans.
