WILLEMSTAD – Starting Wednesday, May 20, 2026, the Driver’s License Department of Public Affairs (Kranshi) will begin using digitalized stamps and seals for products and services related to driver’s licenses. The measure is aimed at improving public service in Curaçao while making government offices more secure and efficient.
After introducing digitalized stamps and seals in April 2023, Kranshi is now extending the system to all remaining driver’s license-related products. These new digital stamps will be processed and managed through the modern “Key2Betalen” digital payment system.
With the implementation of this system, the traditional placement of physical stamps and seals on documents issued by the Driver’s License Department will become obsolete. Instead, the system will print transaction details, including the price paid, directly onto the document itself. According to Kranshi, this will significantly reduce the risk of fraud.
The new system will also help manage financial transactions more efficiently and securely while improving the traceability of payments.
The system will be used for payments related to all driver’s license products, including:
- Deposit certificates
- Commission declarations
- Driving tests
- Other official documents
The new system officially enters into force on May 20, 2026.
Kranshi emphasized that documents purchased before May 20 that still contain traditional physical stamps or seals will remain valid.
Driving schools and customers of the Driver’s License Department are being asked to take note of the changes.
During the introduction phase of the new system, customers may experience some inconvenience at the cashier when purchasing driver’s license-related products. Kranshi is asking driving schools and the general public for patience and understanding during the transition period.
