WILLEMSTAD – Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas has been invited as an official guest to the FIFA World Cup this summer, as Curaçao prepares for its historic first participation in the tournament.

Speaking in Curaçao Parliament, Pisas confirmed that he received a personal invitation from Gianni Infantino to attend one of the group stage matches together. The invitation highlights Curaçao’s unprecedented qualification for the global tournament.

In addition, the prime minister revealed that he has been invited by Claudia Sheinbaum for an official visit to Mexico, which includes attending the opening of the World Cup.

Curaçao’s qualification marks a milestone, as the island becomes the smallest nation ever to reach the World Cup. The achievement has been widely described as historic, placing the country on the global football stage for the first time.

The upcoming tournament is expected to draw international attention not only to the competition itself but also to Curaçao’s emergence in world football, with national pride and visibility at an all-time high.
