WILLEMSTAD – On 24 February 2026, Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas took part in a virtual introductory meeting with the newly appointed State Secretary for the Interior and Kingdom Relations, Eric van der Burg. The meeting was also attended by the Prime Minister of Aruba, Mike Eman, and the Prime Minister of Sint Maarten, Luc Mercelina.
The primary purpose of the meeting was for the leaders to become acquainted and to reaffirm the positive working relationship between the governments within the framework of cooperation in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. No substantive policy issues were discussed during the session.
During the meeting, it was agreed that the four countries of the Kingdom would meet again in the near future in the Netherlands, following an invitation from the new Dutch Prime Minister, Rob Jetten. In addition, State Secretary Van der Burg indicated his intention to make working visits to the Caribbean countries of the Kingdom in the coming months.
Prime Minister Pisas expressed confidence that cooperation with the new State Secretary will be constructive and will contribute to the effective functioning of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
