SAN JOSÉ – Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas held bilateral talks on Wednesday with Douglas Soto Campos, discussing several areas of potential cooperation between Curaçao and Costa Rica.
The meeting took place in San José as part of Pisas’ official visit to Costa Rica for the presidential inauguration ceremonies.
According to the Curaçao government, the discussions focused on key strategic areas, including ocean protection and sustainability, healthcare cooperation, and tax policy.

One of the main topics was the importance of protecting the oceans, with both sides recognizing the need for stronger regional cooperation on sustainability and environmental preservation.
Healthcare was also identified as an important area for collaboration, with opportunities explored for joint initiatives and knowledge exchange in the medical sector.
Another significant topic was the possibility of establishing a double taxation agreement between Curaçao and Costa Rica. Such an agreement would aim to prevent double taxation on businesses and individuals operating between both jurisdictions, while also stimulating trade and economic cooperation.
Prime Minister Pisas said the dialogue reflects the friendly ties between Curaçao and Costa Rica and highlights a shared vision for sustainability, economic development, and stronger regional partnerships.
The bilateral meeting forms part of Curaçao’s broader diplomatic efforts to strengthen regional alliances and expand cooperation with Latin American partners.
