Prime Minister Jetten visits Defence on Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD - Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten visited Naval Base Parera on Curaçao today, as part of his working visit to the Caribbean part of the Kingdom. It is Jetten's first visit to the Caribbean part of the Kingdom, in his capacity as Prime Minister.

Commander of the Naval Forces in the Caribbean Region, Commodore Walter Hansen, briefed the Prime Minister on duties, operations, and the cooperation with security partners.

Other topics discussed, included the geopolitical situation in the Caribbean Region, the fight against cross-border crime, and humanitarian aid, as well as military assistance when neighboring countries request it.

Jetten's visit takes place right at the start of the cabinet term, due to the importance the cabinet attaches to a good and strong cooperation within the Kingdom. Prior to his visit to Curaçao, he visited Sint Maarten, Saba, Sint Eustatius, Bonaire, and Aruba.
