Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas attends milestone CARICOM leaders’ summit

WILLEMSTAD – Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas is taking part in the 50th meeting of heads of government of the Caribbean Community, which is being held from 24 to 27 February, the government announced.

According to the statement, the summit is regarded as a key regional consultation, bringing together Caribbean leaders to discuss issues such as regional integration, economic development, climate resilience, food security, the energy transition and geopolitical stability.

Curaçao’s presence at the meeting is intended to underline the importance the country places on regional cooperation and dialogue with other Caribbean nations. During the summit, Pisas plans to focus on strengthening economic relations, promoting regional trade and exploring investment and development opportunities that could benefit Curaçao.

The prime minister is traveling with a delegation that includes Secretary-General of the Ministry of General Affairs Djurick Comenentia, cabinet staff member for foreign relations Vanessa van Dijsseldonk, and Sixiènne Jansen, chair of the committee working on the establishment of a CARICOM unit within the Curaçao government.

The government stated that participation in the CARICOM summit represents an important step in further positioning Curaçao as a serious and stable partner within the regional Caribbean framework.
