WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Police Force (KPC) has withdrawn its public search notice for 34-year-old Riangelo Rignaldo Nicasio Martina, better known as “Buchito,” after he voluntarily reported to detectives in connection with an auto theft investigation.
Earlier this week, police had appealed to the public for assistance in locating Martina, who was being sought as part of an ongoing investigation into a vehicle theft case.
At the time, authorities described Martina as a Curaçao-born man standing approximately 1.80 meters tall with a slim build, dark complexion, and dark brown eyes.
Voluntary Surrender
According to police, Martina presented himself voluntarily to the Criminal Investigation Department following the public appeal.
After reporting to authorities, he was brought before an assistant public prosecutor, who ordered his pretrial detention pending further investigation into the case.
The police did not provide additional details regarding the allegations or the circumstances surrounding the auto theft investigation.
Public Appeal No Longer Necessary
With Martina now in custody, the police have officially canceled the earlier request asking members of the public to be on the lookout for “Buchito.”
The withdrawal of the search notice brings an end to the public effort to locate him, while investigators continue to examine the circumstances of the case.
Authorities have not announced when Martina is expected to appear before a judge or whether additional arrests are anticipated as part of the investigation.
