Police Warn of Rising Motorcycle Stunt Incidents; Spectators Also at Risk of Fines

Local, | By Correspondent December 1, 2025

WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao Police Force (KPC) reports a growing number of motorcycles — both local and from neighboring islands — causing disturbances and dangerous situations on the roads. Authorities are issuing a renewed warning: performing stunts, known locally as feveren, is strictly prohibited on public roads.

The police stress that any vehicle endangering traffic will be seized. Notably, officers also remind the public that spectators who gather along the roadside to watch these high-risk stunts are breaking the law and may face fines as well.

Stricter Enforcement Under ‘Fin di Aña sin Zanzaña

As part of the year-end safety campaign “Fin di aña sin zanzaña” (“Year-end without trouble”), the police announced that seized vehicles will not be returned until both the motorcycle and its rider fully meet all legal requirements.

Motorcyclists must:

possess a valid driver’s license,

carry all required vehicle documents, including:

inspection certificate,

insurance papers,

proof of paid motor vehicle tax.

Only when all conditions are met will the authorities consider releasing an impounded motorcycle.

Police Call for Cooperation

The KPC urges riders and spectators alike to act responsibly as year-end festivities approach. Officers will continue heightened patrols and enforcement actions to ensure public safety on Curaçao’s roads.

“Dangerous riding puts everyone at risk — the rider, other road users, and even those watching from the roadside,” the police said.
