WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao police seized eight goats from a property in Fuik on Tuesday as part of an ongoing investigation into goat theft and the illegal sale of goat meat. No arrests have been made so far.
Police said they received information on Tuesday, September 15, indicating that several allegedly stolen goats were being kept on a property in the Fuik area.
A police team that has recently been assigned to investigate goat theft and the illegal trade in goat meat immediately responded to the report and went to the property on Weg naar Fuik.
During the operation, officers found and confiscated a total of eight goats.
Police have not disclosed whether the animals have already been identified by their owners or how investigators determined that they were suspected of having been stolen.
No suspects had been arrested in connection with the case as of the latest police update. The investigation is continuing as authorities work to identify and apprehend those responsible.
The Curaçao Police Force thanked members of the public for providing information and urged residents not to purchase goats when there is reason to suspect that the animals may have been stolen. The warning also applies to goat meat that may originate from illegally obtained livestock.
Authorities have recently increased attention on livestock theft and the illegal sale of meat, with a dedicated team investigating such cases.
