WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Police Force (KPC) is seeking the public's help in solving a series of goat thefts that have recently affected livestock farmers across the island. A reward of ANG 4,000 has been offered for information leading to the recovery of the stolen animals and the identification of those responsible.
According to police, multiple incidents have been reported at livestock farms in several areas, including Oostpunt (known as the Maal property), Kalabash at Roi Santu, Wacawa and the grounds of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Nature (LVV).
In addition to the livestock thefts, thieves also stole approximately 28 rolls of fencing wire from the Maal property, causing further losses for farmers.
The association representing livestock breeders has expressed serious concern over the growing number of thefts and has offered the reward in an effort to encourage members of the public to come forward with information.
Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact the anonymous police tip line by dialing 108. Information that leads to the recovery of the goats or the arrest of those involved may qualify for the reward.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing and reminded the public that both purchasing stolen goats and buying meat from stolen animals are criminal offenses punishable by law.
Authorities are encouraging residents to report any suspicious activity that could assist investigators in bringing those responsible to justice.
