Police Arrest 44-Year-Old Suspect in Connection With Fatal Yubi Kirindongo Traffic Park Shooting

WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao police have arrested a 44-year-old man in connection with a fatal shooting that took place on July 6, 2026, at the Hubert “Yubi” Kirindongo Traffic Park.

According to the Curaçao Police Force (KPC), the arrest was made as detectives continue their investigation into the deadly shooting.

Police arrested the suspect, identified by the initials N.J.N., at approximately 1:15 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18. The Curaçao-born man was detained on Saonaweg.

Following the arrest, authorities conducted a judicial search of the suspect’s residence on Guanaweg as part of the ongoing investigation.

The 44-year-old was subsequently brought before an assistant public prosecutor, who ordered that he remain in custody pending further investigation.

Police did not disclose what role the suspect is believed to have played in the July 6 shooting or what evidence led investigators to him.

Authorities also provided no additional details in the latest statement about the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting or whether additional arrests are expected.

The investigation remains ongoing.
