WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Police Force is reminding organizers of tambú and aguinaldo celebrations to submit their permit applications on time as the busy end-of-year festivities approach.
The police Special Laws Unit (Unit Bijzondere Wetten, UBW), which handles the permits, said applications for tambú and aguinaldo events must be submitted at least two working days before the scheduled activity.
Weekends and public holidays do not count toward the two-day requirement. Police stressed that applications submitted too late cannot be processed.
For example, if an event is scheduled for Friday, October 9, 2026, the completed application must be submitted no later than Tuesday, October 6.
Applications can be submitted on working days between 9:00 a.m. and noon at the UBW office on Winston Churchillweg.
Organizers must meet a number of requirements before a permit can be processed. The list of requirements is available directly from UBW during office hours. It can also be requested by email at ubw@polis.cw or by calling 724-6104.
Police emphasized that this procedure applies specifically to permits for tambú and aguinaldo celebrations. The arrangement will be in effect from October 1, 2026, through January 11, 2027.
With the traditional year-end season expected to generate a large number of events and permit requests, authorities are urging organizers not to wait until the last moment to submit their applications.
Tambú and aguinaldo activities form an important part of Curaçao's cultural and holiday season, with events traditionally increasing during the final months of the year and continuing into January.
