WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao is preparing for a special international visit as renowned chess educators László Polgár and Klára Polgár are set to visit the island from April 8 to 15, 2026.
The couple, best known as the parents and trainers of Judit Polgár—widely regarded as the greatest female chess player of all time—will introduce the internationally recognized “Polgár StarChess” concept during their stay.

The initiative focuses on education, creativity, and the development of critical thinking skills among children. According to organizers, the visit presents a unique opportunity for Curaçao to benefit from one of the most influential educational approaches in the world of chess.
“This is a unique opportunity for Curaçao,” said FIDE Master Fabio Mensing, one of the organizers. “The Polgár family has demonstrated that talent can be developed with the right methods. Their visit could have a significant impact on our youth and on the future of education on the island.”
The program will include workshops for children, interactive sessions, school visits, and an exclusive meet-and-greet, giving participants the rare chance to engage directly with one of the most influential families in chess history.
The event is not limited to chess enthusiasts. Parents, schools, and organizations interested in talent development and innovation in education are also encouraged to participate.
Given the global recognition of Judit Polgár, organizers expect the visit to attract attention beyond the local community, potentially placing Curaçao on the map in international educational and chess circles.
Interested individuals and organizations are invited to get involved or collaborate as the island prepares to host this high-profile visit.
